We first started working with PCPS in November 2015 as we had a leak in our CH system. PCPS found the leak and then put together an estimate and timeline to rectify the problem. It was immediately apparent that this would be a large insurance claim. PCPS met with our loss adjuster and worked with both myself and the loss adjuster to ‘push’ the project through.
The required work was extensive – most of the ground floor was taken up and the relevant parts were dried, new membranes were plaid, the kitchen was totally renovated, the CH system was decomissioned and then recomissioned, new CH pipes were laid, the floor was retiled (over 120 square metres) and the downstairs was redocorated. Some aspects of the job were not straight forward, but PCPS always found a solution.
Our works came to well over £50k and we had a whole team of very competent men from PCPS working on the project, who were all very hard working. The works started in April and were completed in November. We were not living in our house due to the extent of the works, and I was very happy to just hand over our keys to PCPS and let them get on with the job! PCPS always kept me informed at to what they were doing throughout. PCPS were under a lot of pressure towards the end of the works to finish up, as we had to move back in in November. Again, they did their very best to achieve this.
So, in summary, I would absolutely highly recommend PCPS and would definitely use their services again, if the need occurred.

After a 7 month project, we feel that we know every person at PCPS well….!
A broken pipe under the kitchen floor resulted in us moving out of our house and the concrete slab below the floor being replaced. PCPS were extremely helpful when discussing things with the insurance company and it was reassuring to know that they had been through this process many times before.
On occasions our house looked like we’d never be able to live there again, but gradually things improved and we’re now delighted with the end result. A project of this magnitude can’t be expected to run smoothly but whenever issues arose PCPS overcame each one with professionalism.
Whilst we were out of our house, we took the opportunity to make several improvements to the property and we have to say, PCPS did an excellent job with each and every one.
As a result, we’d be delighted to recommend PCPS to anyone who finds themselves with a damp problem. They are not the cheapest but quality costs money and we’re glad that we chose them over the other contractors that were pitching for our business. We wish PCPS the very best of luck going forwards

I first called ‘The Leak Detection Company’ as I had suspicions of an underfloor leak. They were very helpful and clear about how to deal with the insurance company. After it was discovered, I was recommended by them to get in contact with their sister company Paul Cheney Property Services. I cannot praise them enough. They helped me through a long tiring 18 month home project. They dealt with the insurance company and even fought my corner when the insurers and loss adjusters said they would not pay for some of the repair. I would have never had my house back and all paid by the insurance. They were very professional all throughout, always available on the phone and to meet inspectors, surveyors…etc on site. I will always be grateful. Thanks a mil!

I’d like to thank the whole team for all their efforts during the extended period of this claim. From the time that the leak was traced, through all the hassles with the insurers, and carrying out the drying and repairs everyone has been helpful, efficient and highly professional.

I would thoroughly recommend PCPS to anyone who has water damage/damp issues in their property. After spending a lot of money over a period of several years trying to identify and fix the cause of a damp patch in our guest bedroom, I contacted PCPS to see if they could help. From the start I found the team to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. Paul and his team carried out a thorough investigation to find the cause of the problem and then installed dehumidifiers to dry out the room. We had a similar issue in another room which they were also able to help with, and in addition they installed a dry channel outside our property to help with another area of damp. Throughout the process I have found the PCPS team to be very reliable and hard working. I am very pleased that I came across the company on the internet!

I am writing to say thank you all for the professional way you have handled the repair and transformation of our house. I think certain aspects of it have tried out patience at times but at no point did we lose faith in your skills and competence. I cannot believe how things have changed in the 15 months since we first called upon your services, culminating in the arrival of our precious grandson.
Although I hope that we will not need to use your services in the future we’ll have no hesitation in recommending you heartily.

Just wanted to say I was very impressed with your engineer. He was totally professional, very thorough and good at explaining all that he was doing/what he thought. I will monitor and top up/bleed the system as suggested and, fingers crossed, I won’t need to call upon your services again (for this – I wouldn’t hesitate for anything further and would happily recommend you to others).

Thank you for sorting this so quickly & please pass on my thanks to your engineer who was more than helpful & let him know the leak was about 2 ft from where the gas was reading.
It was a 2” barrel pipe in the center of the room about 200mm down, without his sensor we wouldn’t have had a clue!!!

Leak Detection, Chiddingfold
We called PCPS when we were informed that we had a large mains water leak which had soaked the concrete slab covering the whole ground floor of the house. We were attracted by the professionalism of their website and the fact that they offered in effect a one stop shop whereby they would find and repair the leak, dry the house out and reinstate as new. It was without doubt the best thing we could have done. From day one they could not have been more helpful at what was a very stressful time. As well as providing workmanship of the highest standard they negotiated directly with my insurance company and their input was definitely instrumental in our receiving a full settlement. They have a fantastic team, all of whom we came to know very well over a period of seven months, but Kim deserves a special mention. We had decided to have an extension built at the same time, which affected the claim significantly, and how she kept track of all the twists and turns we do not know. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending PCPS if ever you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in a similar situation.

This is just a short note to say thanks very much for acting so promptly with this. Your swift and professional response was so refreshing! Anthony did a great job in both detecting and fixing the problem and I will not hesitate in recommending your services to friends, neighbours and colleagues alike.

I was very pleased with Anthony’s methodical approach, I found him easy to work with and he was good with the residents concerned – please pass on my thanks to him for his efforts on the day.
Based on this job, I would certainly look to use you again. Its really helpful to have one person from one company with the necessary knowledge and expertise to see the job through to completion whether its carrying out leak tests, Boroscope examinations, thermal imaging or whatever it takes, it also effectively gives us the opinion of an ‘independent expert’.

I should be most grateful if you could pass on our very grateful thanks to Jim for his kindness and understanding at what for us was a very traumatic time. His help, advice and understanding were very much appreciated by Philippa and I.
Could you also thanks Paul for his help and advice. We were extremely pleased we found his company, through our local plumber. Finally thank you Kim for all your hard work on our behalf and allowing us to use local firms where possible. The end result is just perfect.

I would like to commend Paul and Nathaniel for dealing with the entire process in an efficient, diligent and profesional manner. The loss adjustors made several mistakes which Paul and his team identified and ensured that it was rectified accordingly – without their professionalism, I would have ended up with more issues in the long term.As well as this, Pauls team for renovations (Marcus, Jim, Steve and another chap) have done an excellent job in a timley manner.Highly recomended and it was a pleasure dealing with PCPS.Naynesh PatelWater Damage Repairs, CrawleyJanuary 2013
To Paul and team. A great thank you for a job well done. Your team did the whole job from removing the kitchen and drying it and finally replacing the units and tiles with great planning. This allowed us to stay in our home while the work was being done. When this started at the beginning I had no idea that only a few companies like you do all the work from finding the leak right through to completion. Your prompt response to any questions and your experience with dealing with loss adjusters etc has made this a much better experience and a knowledge the job was done to a high standard.

Leak Detection and Repairs in Feltham
We suffered a bad flood as a result of a split pipe in the ceiling of the apartment above us. Being ground floor we got it all. Paul and his team were a delight to deal with from start to finish. Its was a big help having a team of experts on board.
Whilst much of the costs were covered by the insurance, we decided to pitch in and rejuvenate it completely. All the workmanship was done to an excellent standard and the guys were flexible and hard working in getting it to come together. We came within the time frame we had in mind – just a few weeks after we moved back in. Bearing in mind we had redesigned it completely since the first completion date was put in, they did a fab job, especially they busted a gut or two in the last weeks to ensure we could come back home. We appreciated this very much. It’s not an easy task to determine a rebuild to such a tight schedule like that, especially when you are waiting on it drying out.
All in all, we would thoroughly recommend the team. We’ve had a few minor issues with electrics since – and they were over like a shot to try to get it resolved. We have kept their cards for future work. Also they were very good at recommending things we should do to prolong the life of the flat – and advice like buying good paints etc.
Water Damage Claim, Chertsey, Surrey
We contacted Paul Cheney at PCPS to help us when we discovered we had a leak and damp damage in our house. He came highly recommended by friends of ours and the service we received did not disappoint. We benefited from Paul’s considerable expertise both in terms of the water damage itself as well as navigating the insurance claim process.
As well as remedying our damp problems we decided to have some additional renovation work done and we contracted PCPS do this work also. Overall we are extremely pleased with the quality of work done and the service we received. There are particular aspects of the PCPS service that we valued greatly…
- All work was done by skilled tradesman and laborours within the team, or their trusted suppliers. We never felt as if they were bringing in cheap labour simply to get the job done
- They never did a ‘disappearing trick’ during the job. All builders have to juggle their resource across multiple jobs. With PCPS we were always told as and when any potential conflicts were coming up and how the team planned to manage this to keep to their commitments.
- Communication was good throughout in terms of project management and on site – we were always kept up to date with what was going on and never felt we had to chase
- Once they committed to a completion time for something they did everything humanly possible to stick to it, at great inconvenience to themselves personally, for example sacrificing weekends. This was even the case when the cause of delays were events outside of their control (and changes to the designs that we introduced at the last minute)
- Negotiations were always conducted reasonably and in good faith. We never felt held to ransom despite being reliant on them completing our work. Inevitably situations will arise that are not planned for, all such situations were resolves amicably
- There was real pride in the quality of the work. Many times the team would point out potential issues even when they didn’t have to, causing themselves some inconvenience in their work with no financial gain. It would have been easy for them to ignore these points but they did not.
- On the occasions when work did not go to plan, quality was in question or unexpected damage occurred, PCPS were quick to put their hands up, take responsibility and make sure that things were put right without any extra cost to us.
- And finally, when working on a large piece of renovation work you invite people into your home and for a period of months have to work with them quite closely. When doing so it is better to work with a team of people that you like and can get on with, even when things get difficult. We felt that this was definitely the case with the team at PCPS
I would not say that PCPS is the cheapest option on the market but I guess delivery of some of the benefits as above has its price, and potential cost savings always need to be weighed against the quality of work and service received. I also found them to be very firm when pin-pointing work that was outside of the scope originally agreed in the price. To minimise the impact of this it is important that all works are agreed in detail with them up front – in terms of what is or is not included and what potential problems could escalate costs and to what extent. While extra works can never be fully anticipated it is better to have defined as much of the detail of the scope of the work as possible to minimise shocks along the way. Also, as part of our renovations we had some significant structural work done. Whilst PCPS were able to handle this I felt that it was not an area they do a lot of day to day.
…for insurance work to remedy water damage I would have no hesitation in recommending PCPS as this is their core expertise and an area in which they excel.
…for general renovations I would recommend them as a company definitely worth getting a quote from, particularly if you are willing to pay a little more for peace of mind when it comes to quality and service.
…for more complex structural renovation work I would suggest they are worth considering but do compare their approach and costs to builders for whole structural renovations are a day to day part of their work
